AILA 2008 Newsletter 2007-03 (Review of Proposals / AILA Solidarity Awards)
Dear Colleagues,
This is the third AILA 2008 e-Newsletter presenting information and updates on preparations for the 15. World Congress of Applied Linguistics (August 24-29, 2008 in Essen, Germany). In this issue we would like to inform you of the review process of the submitted proposals, the AILA Solidarity Awards, and give you an outlook on the next newsletter.
Please accept our apologies for cross-postings.
AILA 2008—Review of Proposals
At the end of the Call for Papers we received proposals for about 1200 individual papers, approximately 80 posters, and just above 100 symposia. As such, we would like to thank all of those who have expressed an interest in presenting at AILA 2008.
As you can imagine, the reviewing of such a large number of proposals is not an easy task and the AILA 2008 committee would like to express the greatest gratitude to the team of coordinators of the review process, as well as to all those colleagues who volunteered to assist in reviewing proposals.
We are planning to announce the result of the review process via e-mail early September, at the latest.
AILA Solidarity Awards
AILA aims to extend participation in Applied Linguistics across geographical areas not currently well represented in our association by offering a limited number of Solidarity Awards to scholars in Applied Linguistics who might be unable to participate in the World Congress without financial support.
The deadline for submission of applications for the AILA Solidarity Awards is November 1, 2007. In line with the last two World Congresses, scholars from economically emerging countries may submit applications for the AILA Solidarity Awards. For detailed information about the procedure, please visit www.aila.info/congresses/next.htm.
Please note: Applications can only be submitted after a positive result of the review process was given and should be send to: AILA.Solidarity@gmail.com
